Activating Orange SIM card

Just got my new Blackberry to work with the new Orange SIM! I’d upgraded my Blackberry from a Pearl to a Curve, buying it from the Orange online shop. Got a new SIM but wanted to keep my old number, so had to phone Orange to ask them to transfer my old number  to the new SIM. It seems that if you want to use the old number you still have to use the new SIM, and get the number transferred. Fine, no problem with that. So phoned up 9am Sunday morning and got the old SIM deativated (now says SIM not provisioned:2) and the new SIM activated (changes from SIM not provisioned:2 to saying Orange). The guy on the phone said you have to wait 24 hours, and you should receive a text. So I waited, and waited. Now it’s Monday morning and still not working. So I phone again and got the same answer, wait 24 hours, blah di blah. Four hours later I phone again, and this time I got a nice man who seemed to know his onions! He said because I had bought it online from the Orange shop they put a bar on the use of the phone for safety reasons and it needs to be taken off. So he got me to switch the phone off and on again, and removed the bar, and yay, the phone works now!!

Phew, what a palaver! I wonder why Orange don’t just give more information on their website or on the documentation that comes with the phone.  No wonder their phones are always really busy because there must be lots of people calling with similar activation problems.

Anyway, after a cup of tea and lie down, I’m ready to play with my lovely new Blackberry Curve!
